Celebrate day of the Dead (28 & 29 October) over at World Museum. Death is a lively, colourful celebration in Mexico. During the celebrations Mexicans fill their cemeteries and streets with skeleton and skull decorations, bright flowers and candy. People prepare special foods, play music and dance to honour the spirits of those who have died. Come along to join in with traditional Mexican dancing (28 October), with Son de America who will take you one vibrant journey of traditional dances. Workshops will also be available to find out more about the celebrations in Mexico.
Up the road at the Walker Art Gallery join in with our Education team to create your own wonderful piece of artwork to take home (23-25 October). Take inspiration from Alphonse Mucha: In the Quest of Beauty exhibition currently on display to create your masterpiece.
You can also join in with the Big Draw (26 &27 October) this year at the Walker Art Gallery. Create some drawings that come to life, inspired but Lubaina Himid: Meticulous Observations and Naming the Money exhibition.

The Museum of Liverpool is digging into the past and celebrating archaeology week (23-29 October) Meet the Museum’s archaeological team to find out more about the objects on display and the work they do. You can join in with craft activities, enjoy tours of the museum and even get hands on with objects.
Over at the Merseyside Maritime Museum get ready for Halloween and create your own lantern crafts (28 October) Make them as spooky as you can to scare your family and friends.
Upstairs on the third floor of the Merseyside Maritime Museum you’ll find the International Slavery Museum. Come and find out more about how enslaved African people were helped on the road to freedom by the underground railroad (27 October) and get hands on with some objects from our museum collection to discover more about these amazing escapes.
At Seized! The Border and Customs uncovered visitors can enter the world of the Customs Officer – a dark and unseen place of smuggling, intrigue and danger, where things are not always what they seem. Create your own mobile (25 October) to hang in your room, taking inspiration from our animal themed contraband. Or you can make your own puppet to take home (29 October) whilst learning about the beautiful elephants that the Border Force tries to protect.
If you want a quieter half term why not take a trip outside of the city centre.
The Lady Lever Art Gallery, Port Sunlight, Wirral is a beautiful building housing one of the UK’s finest collections of fine and decorative art. While having a looking around be inspired by the wonderful artworks on display and create your own masterpiece in our See, make do session (24-26 October)Image may be NSFW.

In South Liverpool, Sudley House is a great place to explore and learn about the Holt family who used to live there. Take the family to the childhood rooms to learn about the way children used to play in the past, read some stories and play with a traditional doll house. Let the children run free around our Rose garden or the playing fields at the back of the house while you enjoy a cup of tea and some cake in our lovely tea room.
