The restored Tramcar 245 at Birkenhead Heritage Tramway
The restoration of Tramcar 245 has been recognised by British Trams Online and our wonderful tram is in the running for their award of Best Tram (Traditional) for 2015. But it needs your votes to win.
Please vote for Tramcar 245. Voting closes mid-January 2016.
British Trams Online say the awards were conceived as a bit of fun and originally sought to find the tramcar which had done something “special” over the previous 12 months, trams that have maybe had a repaint, entered service after a repaint or gone on loan away from their home tramway for example.

Tramcar 245 during conservation
Well we think Tramcar 245 and the six year project to restore it to pristine condition and full working order more than meets this criteria! Just have a look at these photos of the tram during conservation and see if you agree…
The restoration work was completed by the skilful and dedicated volunteers of the Merseyside Tramway Preservation Society with support from Wirral Borough Council. The project was funded by a £50,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and funds from National Museums Liverpool.
