The education team at the Museum of Liverpool have always held a secret talent for dance (honest!). In our 1960s school session we have a dance off at the end; during our Little Liverpool sessions a dance to our in-house band – ‘The Beetles’ rounds off our playing nicely, and when welcoming local performers to play in our atrium we can usually be found at the back tapping our feet and swinging our hips.
When we found out about Museum Dance Off we couldn’t wait to get involved and with our exhibition, Tales from the city on we knew exactly what tune we had to dance to, ‘You Spin Me Round’, originally played by the fabulous Dead or Alive.
As the day of recording came around we put our heads together to think of the best places we could showcase our infamous dance moves and we set off around the museum. Yes, there may have been a couple of funny looks from some visitors but we had an absolute blast, twisting on the Timeline, shaking it on the spiral, and living it up in Little Liverpool.
