Earlier this month our House of Memories dementia awareness programme scooped an award at the Liverpool Older People’s Awards.

House of Memories received an award for the family and friends workshops which take place monthly at the Museum of Liverpool, and we are delighted that the programme was recognised in the Outstanding Older Person Initiative category.

The free workshops are open to anyone whose life has been touched by dementia.

Participants receive an introduction to dementia through powerful and very personal video stories based on real life. There is the opportunity to try out our award-winning My House of Memories app, take part in dementia-friendly museum activities and learn about how our resources can help when looking after someone living with dementia.

Support organisations from the Liverpool City Region are present during the workshops to provide further advice and signposting to additional services for any attendees who may require additional support.

Carers also have the opportunity to share experiences with each other in a safe environment.

For carers who can’t make it in to the museum there is information, advice and links to additional support on the dementia-friendly House of Memories website.

To date more than 11,500 participants have taken part in the House of Memories programme, including family and professional carers, and we are committed to continuing to support carers both locally and nationally.

Sign up to the House of Memories e-newsletter to stay up to date with the latest news.
