The enormous glitzy tree of Liverpool One is flashing its love hearts above shoppers; the Christmas markets are settling into their new homes in corners of the city centre, and across Liverpool schools children are learning their lines for nativity plays. It’s all beginning to look a lot like Christmas but if you’re not in an ‘eggnoggy’ kind of mood yet, it’s time to pull on a novelty jumper and switch on Home Alone, Blackler’s Santa is up and Christmas is HERE!

Santa in shop

The Santa was originally made in the Blackler’s display studio.

This will be the second year Blackler’s Santa has brightened up our Atrium. Towering over visitors, at more than five metres high, he was originally used to advertise Blackler’s famous grotto, a must-visit for many Liverpool families during the festive season between 1957 until the store closed in 1988.

Now, 60 years since he was first revealed to Liverpool shoppers and following a major refurbishment undertaken by his original creator Peter Blazey and funded by Alexis and Phil Redmond, Giant Santa enchants a new generation at the Museum of Liverpool.
