
Firework display over the River Mersey starts at 6.30 on 5 November
If you’re heading into the city for the River of Light on Saturday 5 November, make a day of it with free events at the Museum of Liverpool, Merseyside Maritime Museum, the International Slavery Museum and the Seized! gallery.
Staying open later until 6pm on 5 November, there are crafts, puppet-making and Titanic object handling, plus the chance to see exhibitions including Reel Stories: Liverpool and the Silver Screen; In Safe Hands: the story of the Liverpool Pilots, and Afro Supa Hero.
Don’t forget to visit the Little Liverpool gallery at the Museum of Liverpool, crammed with hands-on activities for children under 7. Collect a timed ticket at the welcome desk. Sessions are usually held at 10.15am, 11am, 11.45am, 1.15pm, 2pm, 2.45pm and 3.45pm, with an extra one on 5 November at 4.45pm, but please check the times at the welcome desk on the day of your visit.

Museum crafternoon at the Museum of Liverpool, 1-5pm
Spend a relaxing afternoon making things together that are inspired by the Museum of Liverpool’s collections. This session is for accompanied children age 10 and under.
Diwali crafts at the International Slavery Museum, 1-5pm
Get crafty and celebrate Diwali. Join us to make your own creations inspired by this annual Hindu festival.
Morse code challenge at the Merseyside Maritime Museum, 1, 2, 3, 4pm
Are you smart enough to take on the Morse Code challenge? Join us to test your skills at sending messages without a mobile phone!

Tales of Titanic objects at the Merseyside Maritime Museum, 1-5pm at intervals
Find out more about the facts and myths surrounding the sinking of the world famous ship with our collection of replica handling objects.
Ele-friends at the Seized! gallery (inside the Merseyside Maritime Museum), 1-5pm
Make your own ele-puppet and learn about the beautiful elephants that Border Force officers try to protect. This event is part of the Seized! gallery programme at the Merseyside Maritime Museum.
The shop and café at both the Museum of Liverpool and Merseyside Maritime Museum will remain open until 6pm too, offering hot drinks and snacks, with a range of shop gifts to keep the little ones entertained before the big event begins. The Maritime Dining Room at the Merseyside Maritime Museum will be open until 4.30pm with last orders for hot food at 3.30pm.
